about altaura
What is Altaura?
Altaura is a sound and music agency. We create curated background music, sonic identity, and sound strategy for brands and spaces.
What do you mean by “Atmosphere Alchemy”?
It is our belief that sound can transform how a place feels. We align music to brand identity, guest journey, and the energy of service.
What does Altaura do, in practical terms?
We define what the music needs to do, build playlists by zone and daypart, manage scheduling, and keep everything evolving with your venue.
Are you a playlist company or a strategy partner?
Both. Strategy sets the rules and intent, curation brings it to life, and ongoing management keeps it consistent across teams and locations.
What makes Altaura different from other music providers?
We do not start with genres. We start with brand, behaviour, and the reality of service, then build a soundtrack system that evolves through the day and holds up operationally across teams and sites.
Do you support multi site and international rollouts?
Yes. We build a consistent framework, then tailor locally where needed across sites, formats, and regions.
Services and brand identity
What services do you offer?
Music strategy, playlist curation, sonic identity, and ongoing optimisation. Where relevant, we also support soundscapes and live programming.
What is music strategy?
A clear plan for what music should do in each space and moment, including goals, guardrails, dayparts, and how it scales across locations.
What is Soundaura?
Your bespoke sonic identity. It defines what your brand sounds like and guides every playlist, daypart, and touchpoint.
What goes into a Soundaura?
Brand values, audience profiles, cultural context, venue personality, emotional tone, energy range, lyrical rules, and musical reference points that keep everything coherent.
How do dayparts work and how granular can scheduling be?
We define time windows where mood and guest behaviour shift, then schedule music with fine timing so transitions feel natural through service changes, peaks, and key moments.
Why does zone specific music matter?
Different areas have different jobs. A lobby welcomes, a restaurant holds pace, a bar builds energy. Each zone needs its own intent, not one playlist for everything.
How many playlists do we actually need?
It depends on zones and operating hours. Most venues benefit from multiple dayparts, plus weekend variants.
How do you prevent playlists from becoming repetitive?
We refresh regularly, manage variation intentionally, and maintain clear rules so it stays fresh without drifting off brand.
Can you work with our existing playlists?
Yes. We can audit what you have, keep what works, and rebuild the rest into a structured system your teams can run confidently.
Can you create a local sense of place without clichés?
Yes. We build authenticity through real musical culture and thoughtful selections, avoiding the obvious “tourist soundtrack” approach.
Process and rollout
How do you get started with a new client?
We begin with discovery and immersion, map your guest journey and operations, define dayparts, build the programme, then refine once it is live.
How quickly can we launch?
Single venues can move fast. Multi site programmes take longer, depending on zones, approvals, and platform setup.
Can we start with a pilot before rolling out everywhere?
Yes. A pilot is a great way to prove the value, refine the identity, and build internal confidence before scaling.
Do you collaborate with designers and operators?
Yes. We regularly work alongside interior designers, architects, AV partners, and onsite teams to align sound with the wider experience.
Do you provide guidelines our teams can follow?
Yes. We create clear sonic guidelines so everyone knows what to play, when to play it, and how to keep the brand consistent.
Licensing and compliance
Do you handle music licensing?
We guide you towards the right commercial setup and help you stay compliant. Licensing arrangements typically sit with the operator via the appropriate route.
Can we use Spotify or Apple Music in a venue?
Consumer streaming is not designed for commercial use. Commerical venues require a business playback solution for licensing, control, and consistency.
What about explicit lyrics and brand risk?
We set clear rules around lyrics, mood, energy, and content. Nothing goes live without aligning to your brand and audience.
Delivery, tech, and acoustics
Are you tied to one music platform?
No. We are tech agnostic. We recommend what fits your property, team, and ambitions, and we prioritise reliability and ease of use.
Can you schedule music automatically by time of day?
Yes. We build daypart schedules so the right music plays at the right moment without relying on manual switching.
What does a staff friendly setup look like?
Clear zone logic, simple controls, minimal steps, and guardrails that prevent accidental changes while keeping operators empowered.
Do you only do music, or do you handle sound systems too?
We do both. Great music only works if the system delivers it properly, so we can advise on acoustics and AV where it impacts the experience.
What problems do you typically solve with AV and acoustics?
Uneven coverage, harsh or fatiguing sound, poor speech intelligibility, echo, weak bass placement, and systems that are hard for staff to operate.
Measurement and impact
How do you measure if it is working?
We agree goals up front and track the signals available, such as daypart performance, dwell time indicators, and guest and team feedback.
Do you test and iterate?
Yes. We use feedback and performance signals to refine the programme so it stays sharp as your venue evolves.
Commercial
How is pricing structured?
Usually a setup phase for strategy and build, plus an ongoing management fee for updates, optimisation, and consistency.
What do you need from us to quote?
Number of sites, zones, operating hours, current playback setup, and what you want music to achieve.
How do we get started?
Send us your venue details and goals. We will propose a simple next step, typically a discovery call and a quick audit.
With Altaura, you're not just getting music. You're getting a partner who understands the science, art, and business of sound.
